IDR is seeking a VFX Artist II to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Los Angeles, California. This role supports a cutting-edge game development team in the interactive entertainment industry, creating real-time visual effects that elevate gameplay feel, clarity, and immersion. You’ll collaborate closely with animation, design, and technical art partners to prototype, iterate, and deliver stylized effects that read clearly in fast-paced combat scenarios.
Position Overview for the VFX Artist II:
- Create high-quality, real-time visual effects that enhance combat readability, player feedback, and overall moment-to-moment gameplay
- Collaborate with animators, designers, tech artists, and engineers to align effects with gameplay intent and visual style
- Rapidly concept, prototype, implement, and iterate on VFX solutions in an R&D-style development environment
- Balance artistic quality with performance, optimization, and best practices for real-time game production
- Contribute to consistent workflows by documenting approaches and supporting clarity/contrast standards for effects
Requirements for the VFX Artist II:
- 5+ years of experience creating real-time VFX for games
- Hands-on experience using Unity, Unreal, or equivalent real-time engine VFX tools
- Professional experience developing for console or mobile platforms
- Strong understanding of optimization and best-practice workflows for real-time effects
- Strong grasp of visual hierarchy, readability, and prioritization in complex gameplay spaces
