Program Overview

RIVA Solutions is a people-first government services firm delivering mission-critical technology, operations, and consulting solutions across the federal landscape. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to creating meaningful experiences that strengthen connection, increase engagement, and reinforce our internal brand across the organization.

The Events & Engagement Specialist will support enterprise-wide initiatives that bring employees together, elevate the employee experience, strengthen organizational connectivity, and support the energy behind RIVA’s internal programs and external presence.

Position Overview

RIVA Solutions is seeking a highly social, organized, and proactive Events & Engagement Specialist to support the planning, promotion, and execution of employee and corporate engagement initiatives across the organization.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in people-centered environments, enjoys bringing events and experiences to life, and can serve as a visible, positive presence across both internal and external settings. The selected candidate will play a key role in coordinating employee events, networking participation, internal engagement campaigns, office-based support, and cross-functional initiatives that may not clearly sit within another team.

This is a dynamic, highly interactive role that requires someone who is comfortable attending frequent in-person events, building relationships, creating engaging experiences, supporting Marketing & Communications initiatives, and helping strengthen the overall employee experience organically through action and execution.

The Events & Engagement Specialist will work closely with executive leadership, Marketing & Communications, People teams, and internal stakeholders to support employee-facing programs, community-building efforts, office activities, and special projects throughout the year.

Core Responsibilities

Events Planning & Execution

  • Lead coordination and execution of internal employee events, celebrations, happy hours, lunches, holiday parties, and team-building activities.
  • Support the planning and delivery of in-person, hybrid, and virtual events across the organization.
  • Manage event logistics including scheduling, vendor coordination, invitations, supplies, setup, run-of-show details, onsite support, and follow-up.
  • Help create engaging and memorable employee experiences from concept through execution.
  • Assist with corporate offsites, leadership gatherings, and other enterprise events as needed.

Event Promotion & Internal Visibility

  • Partner with Marketing & Communications to promote internal events and initiatives across the organization.
  • Help drive awareness, participation, and excitement for employee activities and company-sponsored events.
  • Support internal communications and engagement efforts tied to recurring campaigns and company initiatives.
  • Assist with Slack engagement activities such as Trivia Tuesdays, Thankful Thursdays, and other employee connection efforts.
  • Contribute to MarCom-led initiatives such as State of the Union communications and related internal rollouts.

Day-of Experience & Event Presence

  • Serve as a visible, welcoming, and high-energy presence at internal and external events.
  • Ensure events run smoothly and reflect a strong employee and guest experience.
  • Help facilitate attendee engagement, transitions, flow, and overall atmosphere during events.
  • Represent RIVA professionally at networking functions, community activities, and industry events.
  • Attend a high volume of networking and relationship-building events in support of company visibility and connection.

  • Gather feedback, participation metrics, and lessons learned following events and programs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve future events, communications, and employee engagement efforts.

  • Help maintain continuity and connection around recurring annual charitable and community engagement efforts.
  • Provide support for office-based coordination and administrative needs tied to internal activities and events.
  • Act as a flexible, dependable resource who can step into organizational gaps or special projects where needed.
  • Help strengthen employee connection and retention by creating thoughtful, engaging touchpoints across the employee experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Hospitality, Event Management, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.
  • 4–8 years of professional experience in events, engagement, communications, marketing, office operations, or a related function.

  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through from planning to execution to post-event recap.
  • Must be local to the DMV area and able to be onsite in Reston, VA as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to attend frequent in-person events, including occasional early morning or evening functions.

Preferred Qualifications
