IDR is seeking a Data Engineer to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Columbus, Ohio. This role involves designing and maintaining data archiving solutions within a Microsoft SQL Server environment, supporting large datasets and ensuring compliance with data retention policies. The company operates within the data management and analytics industry, dedicated to leveraging robust data solutions to enhance enterprise operations.
Position Overview for the Data Engineer:
- Design, build, and operate data archiving and purging solutions in a Microsoft SQL Server environment
- Handle large datasets including EBCDIC data processing, conversions, and validations
- Develop Python automation tools for job orchestration, validation, and exception handling
- Manage batch workflows and scheduling using Control-M, with alerting and failure handling
- Collaborate with data governance teams to ensure security, compliance, and data lifecycle management
Requirements for the Data Engineer:
- Strong expertise in SQL Server, T-SQL, stored procedures, and transaction management
- Experience working with EBCDIC data formats, code pages, and mainframe data models
- Proficiency in Python scripting for ETL and automation tasks
- Skilled in batch scheduling and workflow management with Control-M
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data retention, and compliance standards
